Seiche Conditions Just Before Sunset

Sept. 19, 2003

The strong east wind of last night became a strong west wind early today with the effect that the water dropped 3-4 feet overnight.

The Beach is Back at Schoolhouse Bay. Note the new riprap put in a few weeks ago.

Based on the stairs that are usually under water, it looks as if the water is down over 3 feet.

If your boat wasn't on a floating dock, you had a problem

The reef at Sugar Island is above water.

But life in the marsh goes on as usual.

The storm's moving to the east, but the sky in the west just cleared up before sunset, so the colors are beautiful and very unusual.

In case you object to having a car in a beautiful landscape picture, here's one without (most of) the car.
