East Point Historical Documents

courtesy of the Webster Family

George and Mark Webster, descendants of the Lutes and Webster families of East Point, were gracious enough to loan me a large number of historical documents from East Point, from the period 1860-1941. A digital copy of all the documents has been given to the Lake Erie Islands Historical Society.

A few of the documents are shown below. I'll add some more in the future, and if anyone on the island would like to see the entire collection I'll be glad to show them to you on my laptop.

1860 Letter

Frances Myers' sale of most of East Point to John Lutes for $1,000

1862 Contract

John Lutes' sale of one parcel of land to G. W. Magle for $1,200

!863 Document

East Point survey document

1886 Survey Map

The map shows the division of John Lutes' land among his heirs after his death in 1882.

1925 Offer to Sell Future East Point Manor Property

Julia Webster's offer to sell 11 acres to Harry Payer for $7,500. This is about half of the land that the East Point manor and estate were built on.

1925 Acceptance of Offer

Harry Payer's 1925 letter of intent to buy 21 acres, including the 11 in the original offer, from Julia Webster for $10,500
