Bald Eagle

This bald eagle's nest was in a tree on the south side of the Kuehnle Wildlife Area, between the road and the airport runway. Image contributed by Roman Sapecki.

2 Turkey Vultures

A flock of turkey vultures stays on the island for over a month every spring. These two were sitting on the top of the old Bretz farmhouse near the end of Muller Road.

Geese being Chased from the East Point Runway

Since the old East Point runway is still operational, we let our dog chase the geese off the runway. The view is towards Ballast Island.

Life on the East Point Reef

Always a popular spot for birds, the reef also has a beach made up mostly of shells. It extends a long way into the water, and is a dangerous spot for boaters who ignore the buoy.
